How long have you been natural and when did you BC?
I did my big chop in 2006 but I still had a little bit of relaxed
ends. I became officially all natural in October 2007 when I cut off
all relaxed ends and started my Loc Journey.
What are your staple products and hairstyles?
My favorite hair care items are unrefined Shea Butter, 100% Aloe Vera
Gel, Coconut Oil, and We Rock Roots Products. My favorite hairstyle
would be flat twists with an extra curly bang.
What is your regimen?
I am pretty active because I workout a lot, so I tend to wash my Locs
every 3 -5 days with Castile Soap or Avalon Organics Peppermint
Shampoo. My conditioner is homemade, it consists of Water, Rosemary
Oil, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, and Aloe Vera Gel. To re-twist my Locs I
like to use Aloe Vera Gel or Unrefined Shea Butter, for my edges I
love using We Rock Roots RockOn Butter and to add some sheen an extra
dose of Coconut Oil.
What are your natural hair goals?
To have long, healthy, strong, buildup free, lint free Locs.
How do you keep your hair intact overnight?
I add some Coconut Oil to my roots and wrap it with a silk scarf, to
maintain curls I use Bantu Knots.
How do you maintain length?
Making sure my Locs are properly moisturized, using all natural
quality products, avoiding harsh over processing through dying hair
too frequently, making sure I am not twisting my edges so tight that
they snap off, and ensuring that I am twisting consistently in the
same direction to avoid unkempt looking Locs.
Name 1 reason you went natural and why you love being natural.
I went natural because I wanted healthy, long, full hair, that didn’t
suffer from constant breakage. I love being natural because it has
made me appreciate the real me leaving me no reason to hide behind
chemicals or weaves any longer.
