Twists On Transitioning Hair

I have been transitioning since April 2010.

I washed it and conditioned it and detangled it while in the shower. I let it air dry for about 30 mins. After that i parted it in 4 sections, 2 in the front and 2 in the back.

I only twisted one section at a time and had the rest pinned up.So going one section at a time, i moisturized my hair with this whipped shea butter/herbal oil mixture i made in a blender. Then I parted that section of hair one row at a time (starting with the bottom and worked my way up to the top of my head) once i made a row, i took a chunk of hair from that row and put some ECOstyler Argan Oil gel on it and twisted it down to the end. Make sure to put gel on the ends so they dont unravel.

Once i had half of the section done, i took a flexi rod and rolled the ends of my twists onto it, so that when they dried, they would have a sort of spiral curl. i did this because my hair at the ends are permed and they are straight and boring. so this was my way of hiding it. So anyway, i ended up with 8 rods in my hair, 2 per section, but adjust it to whatever u need.

While i worked my way to a new section, i had to spray some water on them before putting the gel and shea butter on because they had become dry while i was doing the other sections. Because i had to be at work in the morning and my hair is infamous for not drying overnight, i sat under a hooded dryer for 30 mins. After that i put on a satin bonnet and scarf.

In the morning, all you have to do is take down the flexi rods and separate the mini twists from each other and shake your hair out and you should be good to go.
