LEXI WITH CURLS! LEXI WITH CURLS!! Allow me to introduce another 1 of my natural hair inspirations….. I WOULD FIGHT BABIES TO GET THIS GIRL’S HAIR!

How long have you been natural and when did you BC?

I have been natural for almost 7 years. I did my BC in August 2003.

What are your staple products and hairstyles?

Hmmm…staple products- I have so many that I love. I like using Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding mixed with their Butter-creme for twist/braid outs…I am also a fan of just using conditioner –any kind of conditioner and leaving that in my hair when I do wash and gos.

My go to hairstyle would definitely be between a twist out and braid out. Lately, I have been doing more braid outs than anything and adding a cute headband.

What are your natural hair goals?

My natural hair goals would be to have hair in its curly state past my shoulders, but most of all HEALTHY. So many people want length but don’t care about the health of their hair. Recently I had a stylists suggest she cut off 4 inches and I was like “Whoooaaa Hold up!” but I did let her cut some. Being healthy is more important than length. Shrinkage comes with the territory of natural hair so it would be cute to have it shrink up to below my shoulders…I also recently thought about getting it cut into a cute shorter style like a faux hawk. I have seen some curlies who have fierce faux hawks.

How do you keep your hair intact overnight?

Overnight, I retwist (even if it was originally a braidout)  my hair in about 10 twists and put on a silk bonet. Sometimes when I am lazy, I will just put it in a bun and put on a scarf first and then the bonet. I just bought a silk pillow case!! I know the case is so you can be able to not wear a scarf/bonet, but I keep it on anyway and it hasn’t come off like it usually does on the cotton pillow.

How do you maintain length?

I maintain length by trying to keep my ends healthy and my roots. Because I have color in my hair, I make sure to do extra deep treatments and sit under the steamer at least once every 2 weeks. I am trying to get better and do the steamer every week but sometimes I don’t have time to do the steamer. I think this has helped me maintain length.

Name 1 reason you went natural and why you love being natural.

I went natural for versatility- afro one day, curly the next, and straight the day after that.

I love being natural because I can do so many looks and it’s the healthy way to go.
